[10-04-26] Humboldt Berlin IV 2010
Despite the obstacles posed by travel restrictions in the aftermath of the Iceland volcano eruption, 48 teams from all over Europe gathered in Berlin to compete in the Humboldt IV 2010. Jacobs University Debating Society was represented by Frank Richter '12 and Lida-Maria Lottko '12, who for the first time formed a team in a competitive tournament. Maxime Cheng '11 and Jakob Hensing '10 joined as adjudicators. The tournament was marked by fierce competition in the top half of the tab, by the depth and breadth of the adjudication pool headed by Leela Koenig and Patrick Ehmann, and by the excellent organization and its highly committed team.
Jakob Hensing was happy to break as an adjudicator to judge the ESL Final, which was won by a team from Utrecht on the motion "This House would give parents the full right over the selection of their embryoes". The Grand Final on the motion "This House would introduce an immigrant quota for neighbourhoods of large cities" was won by Jeroen Hoen and Daniel Springer from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
