[10-04-26] Hanse Debating Union Inaugurated
Jacobs University Debating Society is delighted to welcome the next debating society in the German curcuit - all the more since the inauguration of Hanse Debating union at the University of Bremen makes our home town one of the very few German cities hosting multiple active societies.
The opening event of the new club featured an introduction to rhetorics by German debating legend Christoph Busch as well as a German-speaking show debate. Lida-Maria Lottko and Jakob Hensing were pleased to join the latter, although they somewhat found themselves in a mission impossible being opposition speakers on the motion "This House believes that the Humanities are more important than the Sciences" in a room filled predominantly by social science students.
We sincerely hope that the HDU will firmly establish itself in the German circuit, and we are looking forward to exploring new opportunities for cooperation and competition in the neighbourhood!
