The 2003/2004 season brought many new members to the Society, along with new motivation, ideas, and the Campus Series. The Fall Series 2003 was the first official on-campus competition, with preliminary rounds on Sundays during the whole semester. The final debate in December marked the beginning of the Society's cooperation with IUB's faculty, as Paul Crowther, Mark Comerford and Patrick Bangert formed part of the adjudication panel.
In spring IUB debaters ventured to tournaments as far east as Minsk and as far west as Dublin to practise their debating talent. Ian and Szymon Krupinski managed to clinch another victory, coming first in the Gdansk Open 2004. At the end of the year, Attiya and Ian retired from their two-year presidency, leaving President Bastian Laubner and Vice-Presidents Alena Asyamova and Georgi Hasca to take over the flame. As the spring semester closed, the Debating Society held its first ever Students vs. Professors debate before a room packed full of spectators in the newly opened Campus Center.
In 2004/2005 the Society experienced another increase in activities. IUB debaters participated in numerous tournaments in Latvia, Estland, Estonia, Ireland, and Germany. Although they did not bring home new trophies, IUB teams managed to break to the semis in Cologne and Berlin. The biggest triumph of the year was Bastian's and Sebastian Hirsch's participation in the English-as-a-second-language semi-final at the Euro Championsships in Cork. Most importantly however, the old plan of hosting a tournament materialized. In the opinion of participants and organizers alike, the IUB Open 2005 tournament (February 11-13) was a huge sucess. At the end of the season a new constitution was adopted, preparing the Society to become a registered club in the near future. The new leadership consists of President Axel Domeyer, and Vice-Presidents Alena Asyamova, Matthias Broecheler, Algirdas Grybas, and Sebastian Hirsch.
For 2005/2006 the agenda is again full. IUB debaters will travel to tournaments Europe-wide to advertise the IUB Open 2006, scheduled for January 27-29. In December Dublin's pubs and the World's tournament await the Society's members, and in March 2006 they will compete for the European debating crown in Berlin.
